Public Prosecutors are appointed u/s 24(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code. There is a Regular cadre of Prosecuting Officers who are promoted as Public Prosecutors. They are Gazetted Officers in “Group A” cadre. Their offices are situated in the respective court building.

Assistant Public Prosecutors are Gazetted Officers in Group “A” cadre and are appointed u/s 25 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The APPs are appointed for conducting Criminal cases in the Courts of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) and before Executive Magistrates at Respective Talukas.

Working hours of the APPs are from 09.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. with lunch break from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. However from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. they remain in their respective Courts, whenever cases are fixed for hearing by the courts.
